This month, Cross Culture 365 Ministries will join the rest of the world in acknowledging Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
Breast cancer is the 2nd most common cancer among women in the United States next to some skin cancers, and is the second leading cause of cancer death among women in the United States.
Among non-Hispanic Black women and Hispanic women, breast cancer is the leading cause of cancer death.
Men account for less than 1% of all breast cancer cases, with about 2,650 new cases diagnosed in the U.S. each year.
Although some risk factors can not be changed, there are things that we can do to lower our risk of breast cancer. These include:
Minimizing alcohol intake
Maintaining at a healthy weight
Staying active
Breastfeed
Limit hormone therapy after menopause
Have regular breast exams
